In this diesel mechanic job you will be repairing and maintaining company equipment for safe performance. 1. Repair and maintain New Penn diesel trucks and trailers, utilizing necessary tools, following New Penn Maintenance Policy and Procedures
2. Diagnose mechanical problems both in the terminal and on the dock
3. Perform routine maintenance tasks and adjustments on all types of equipment (i.e.: tractors, trailers, straight trucks and forklifts) according to company and manufactures schedules and guidelines.
4. Inspect, maintain and perform work in, on or under parts of diesel trucks and trailers
5. Apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required
6. Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work locations
7. Keep shop safe and clean at all times
8. Inspect equipment for safety, and prepare safety documentation
1. Hold a valid CDL or ability to obtain CDL
2. Prior experience with diesel engines and/or trailer repairs
3. Basic computer skills
4. Supply own mechanic technician hand tools for diesel tractor trailer repairs
5. Flexible in working various shifts, hours, days of the week
6. Safely walk & stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)
7. Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally)
8. Previous or current ASE certifications preferred, but not required
9. Safely reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the mechanic job duties
10. Basic welding skills desired (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, and ARC)
