Position Overview:
Seeking professional & caring individuals to add to our dedicated staff.
Overview:
The Dietary Aide Performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager.
In the absence of the Dietary Manager, Dietary Aide is accountable to the cook.
In absence of the cook they will be accountable to the Dietetic Technician.
Qualifications:
The Dietary Aide will be of legal employment age.
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
; Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
Ability to read, understand and follow directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
This position will show a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
Good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required for various work routines such as preparing food items, set up of trays, handling soiled dishes, operating dietary equipment and cleaning work area.
The Dietary Aide will be able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation and must be patient and tolerant toward everyone including but not limited to staff, residents, and family member.
Physical Requirements:
The Dietary Aide stands and walks intermittently throughout the work day, as well as reaches, stoops, bend, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies and equipment.
The Dietary Aide must have an ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents.
The Dietary Aide must be able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds.
They also must be able to withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in refrigerated storage to ovens, high heat dish washing machines and steam tables.
The employee must be free from infections or diseases.
Duties:
Follow proper personal hygiene and safety and sanitation policies.
(Clean and proper uniform, hair net or authorized hair cover and proper use of gloves and hand washing.
) Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Supervisor.
Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
Follow Federal, JACOH and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures.
Follow cleaning schedules and perform proper cleaning duties as scheduled.
Proper meal tray set up, and meal service.
Wash and store dishes.
Follow established reporting procedures for the following:
Supplies or equipment needs Any conditions conducive to breeding insects or rodents Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies Attend in-service educational programs Follow established safety codes while performing all duties Understand facility's fire and disaster plans and policies Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
