We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting functions and a deep understanding of the construction industry's financial needs (construction industry experience isn't required.
) This role will involve assisting the Controller in various financial tasks, including the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll.
The candidate will also assist with the bid preparation process, working closely with the estimating and project management departments.
The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and success of our company.
Responsibilities:
1.
Provide assistance to the financial accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements and reporting, budgets, forecasts and payroll.
2.
Utilize Sage Intacct for accounting purposes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
3.
Assist the Controller in preparations for month-end and year-end closings, ensuring all financial records are in order.
4.
Work closely with departments in estimating and project management with the bid preparation process, providing financial insights and analysis to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
5.
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate reflection of company's financial transactions.
6.
Conduct variance analysis, identifying and investigating any discrepancies and taking corrective actions.
7.
Collaborate with the Controller and other financial team members to improve financial processes and systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the finance department.
Qualifications:
1.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
3.
Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
4.
Strong understanding of financial accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements and reporting, budgets, forecasts, and payroll.
5.
Experience in assisting with month-end and year-end closings.
6.
Proven experience in bid preparation process and variance analysis.
7.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
9.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
10.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
